Time collapses in the blink of any eye leaving only fragments. Years pass between seeing some and it's like they age before your eyes. I am not even familiar with that face in the mirror. The older we get the fewer brain snapshots taken and like a movie film with missing slides, time seems to accelerate.
Sometimes I stare monotonously at a moment just to reset my bearings, for time leaves us all behind and marches ever on. I can't hold back the ocean but I can live here and now, one foot after the other, one day after another, until my time is done.

When did I get old? The world keeps changing and everything we hold dear gets lost. It all slips between our fingers like sand.
